16 June 2026 – Tide Insurance (Tide), the digital MGA for yacht insurance, has announced the launch of ‘Compass’, a new mobile-first platform designed to enhance the insurance experience for yacht owners, captains and yacht managers.
Compass represents a significant step forward for the yacht insurance market, providing policyholders with direct, secure access to policy documentation, risk management tools and real-time insights via their mobile devices. The platform is designed to simplify day-to-day insurance interactions while supporting improved risk awareness and mitigation across insured vessels.
Developed with a clear focus on usability and accessibility, Compass enables users to view all relevant policy information in one place, including documentation required to demonstrate compliance with national and international maritime laws. This addresses a longstanding challenge for yacht owners and captains, who often need immediate access to certificates when entering marinas or jurisdictions where documentation checks are routine.
In addition, the platform allows users to request mid-term policy adjustments, such as yard periods, adding crew members, tenders or onboard equipmentthrough a streamlined digital process, reinforcing Tide’s broker-first approach.
Compass further enhances operational visibility for yacht managers and owners with multiple vessels, offering a consolidated view of all yachts under management, alongside features such as claims notification, Tide’s unique risk assessment framework for the safe charging and storage of lithium batteries, a marketplace that showcases products that support the safe operation of yachts, weather updates at mooring locations and user access controls.
Founder and Managing Director, Ian Hoy, commented:
“Compass is a natural extension of Tide’s commitment to making yacht insurance simpler, more transparent and more useful for customers. By putting policy documents, risk insights and practical tools directly into the hands of yacht owners, captains and managers, we are removing friction from the process and helping them make better-informed decisions.
“Our focus is not just on providing insurance, but on helping our customers understand and mitigate risk. Whether it’s ensuring they have the right documentation when they need it, or offering clear guidance on risks such as lithium battery charging and storage, Compass is designed to deliver meaningful, real-world value. By doing all this, it supports brokers by reducing administrative burden and improving the overall customer experience.”
The launch of Compass follows the successful introduction of Tide’s Vesselverse™ platform for brokers and further strengthens the MGA’s position as a leading technology-led innovator in the yacht insurance sector.
